Town of Bluffton

Recognizing the importance of their Historic District to Bluffton’s tourism, economic development and community character, the Bluffton Town Council in 2021 established a grant fund to help property owners maintain and rehabilitate their properties and to prevent historic structures from being lost to disrepair or abandonment. Since January 2022, the Town of Bluffton has allocated more than $255,000 to 12 projects in the Historic District, including 6 residential structures, 3 museum properties, an AME church and one commercial property.

The jury appreciated the unique commitment of the Town of Bluffton to not only preserve historic buildings, but to also help long time residents stay in their homes, to assist in maintaining a diversity of uses within the district, and to support community institutions
