Hampton Pinckney Porchfest Committee
HERITAGE TOURISM AWARD

In 2007 in Ithaca, NY the first Porchfest was staged as a way to build community and support for local musicians. Since that time, Porchfests have been held in more than 50 communities nationwide. The Hampton-Pinckney Porchfest in Greenville, SC was first held in 2021 and has proven very successful in promoting Greenville’s first National Register District while also showcasing regional musicians and craftspeople.
Last year, the event attracted over 2,000 attendees, 20 musical acts, and 30 artisans, who leveraged the exterior spaces of churches and homes in the historic neighborhood on a Sunday afternoon in October. Volunteer-led efforts have targeted historic enhancements to the neighborhood, allocating funds raised to support initiatives such as the erection of five Historic Markers in the Hampton-Pinckney neighborhood, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Archives and History.
For their creative efforts to bring awareness to the history of their neighborhood, and to help build a sense of community in Greenville, the Hampton Pinckney Porchfest Committee is the winner of the 2025 Heritage Tourism Award.
