2022 SC Historic Preservation Awards
Governor McMaster Honors Recipients at July 13, 2022 Ceremony

"It is incumbent on us, not only as South Carolinians with a great history, not only as Americans, but as people in general, to preserve those things from which we can learn, which stirs our imaginations, and all of that makes us stronger" - Governor Henry McMaster, SC Historic Preservation Awards Sponsor.
Thousands of South Carolinians are actively involved in preserving the state's legacy, which is embedded in its historic buildings, structures, and sites. This year, 12 honorees were chosen in the following categories to receive state recognition: Preservation Honor Awards, Stewardship Awards, Preservation Service Award, and The Governor's Award.
“Today's award recipients are the inheritors of that human impulse to preserve tangible reminders of our past, and of those who have come before us,” said W. Eric Emerson, Director of the South Carolina Department of Archives and History.
